Nomination of Irish Member to the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI)

The Office co-ordinated the selection process for the nomination of Ireland’s member to the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance to replace Dr Mazhar Ali Bari whose term expired on the 8th of November 2011. The position was publicly advertised and expressions of interest were sought from suitably qualified and experienced persons. Mr. Michael Farrell was appointed as Ireland's representative to ECRI for a five year term with effect from 24 November 2011.


Update Report to the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI)

An update report on progress on implementation of the recommendations made by the Council of Europe Committee of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance following their last visit to Ireland in 2007 was prepared and submitted to the ECRI Committee. The report is available here.


Joint visit of the Committees of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance and the Framework Convention on National Minorities.

An Inter-departmental Committee was established to prepare for a Joint Visit of the Committees of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance and the Framework Convention on National Minorities which will take place in early 2012.
