Development of European Modules on Integration

Staff from the Office provided input for questionnaires preparing for the development of the European Modules on Integration and attended expert seminars in February and April 2011 in Vienna and Brussels respectively. The seminars focussed on Module II: Strong Commitment by the Host Society and Module III Collective Participation of Migrants in all Aspects of Collective Life.



EU National Contact Points on Integration and EU Council meetings on Integration

The Office continued to represent Ireland at meetings of the EU National Contact Points on Integration and EU Council meetings on Integration (Working party on Integration, Migration and Expulsion) in Brussels.


Solidarity and Management of Migration Flows Programme

European Union Funding for integration is made available through the European Refugee Fund and the European Fund for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals.

The Responsible Authority and the Certifying Authority in Ireland for the European Refugee Fund and the European Fund for the Integration of Third Country Nationals is located in the Office for the Promotion of Migrant Integration which engages in on going communication and correspondence with the European Commission in relation to all aspects of administration of these funds in Ireland in accordance with the decisions of the European Council and European Parliament.

This Office is responsible for the issuing of payments under these Funds and for the preparation and certification of payments in accordance with the European Commission’s Rules on Eligibility of Expenditure and the submission of claims for reimbursement to the European Commission.

The Office is also responsible for the preparation of Annual Programmes, Annual Reports and Monitoring and Evaluation Reports and other miscellaneous reports in relation to expenditure under these Funds and their submission to the European Commission.

The Office is a public beneficiary body in relation to integration activities in Ireland funded under the European Social Fund and the Employment for People from Immigrant Communities project (EPIC) is supported by the European Social Fund. This Office is responsible for the issuing of payments under the Fund and for the preparation and certification of payments and the submission of claims for reimbursement.

23 projects were funded under these funds in 2011.


Solid Committee

Staff attended meetings of the Solidarity and Management of Migration Flows Committee.This Committee manages the European Integration Fund, European Refugee Fund and the External Borders Fund (Ireland does not participate in the External Borders Fund as it is related to the Schengen area and Ireland is not a member of Schengen).


Monitoring Committee of the European Social Fund

The Office is represented on the Monitoring Committee of the European Social Fund in Ireland.
