2. Free Conversational English classes

    Failte Isteach Project, run by Third Age Foundation The Filte Isteach project involves older people volunteering their time to teach conversational English to new migrants from all over the world.
    The student-centred approach adopted by the programme provides basic language support in a practical, welcoming and inclusive manner.
Filte Isteach currently operates 68 groups with around 650 volunteer tutors supporting over 2,000 migrant students to integrate and thrive by delivering over 40,000 hours of free tuition annually.

Doras Luimni is a support organisation for migrants in the midwest, particularly Limerick and the surrounding counties which also offers basic English classes. Lessons are delivered to small groups by eight volunteer tutors and are held on Monday and Thursdays from 10.30am to 12 noon. Places are limited to 35 learners and clients wishing to avail of this service need to complete application forms at the Doras Luimn office reception. Assessments for vacant places take place a number of times throughout the year. Doras Luimn works closely with Limerick & Clare Education and Training Board to ensure that places are allocated to those most in need of language classes.
